Agustín Alaníz Returns to Uruguay

Uruguayan winger Agustín Alaníz will return to his native league, joining Juventud de Las Piedras as a new reinforcement. According to the Argentine News Agency, the “Juve” will pay 800,000 dollars to acquire 50% of the player's card, which belonged to Banfield, with the other half owned by Racing de Montevideo. Thus, the 23-year-old player will join one of the fastest-growing clubs in Uruguayan football, which has qualified for the first stage of the 2026 Copa Libertadores, where it will face Universidad Católica of Ecuador. After an unsuccessful spell in Argentine football, striker Agustín Alaníz returns to his homeland and has arranged his move to Juventud de Las Piedras. The forward had arrived at the “Taladro” at the beginning of last year, which was the biggest investment in the club's market: the club, chaired by Matías Mariotto, had committed to paying 900,000 dollars for 50% of his pass. Having started the year as a starter under then-coach Ariel Broggi, Alaníz scored his first goal in his second match against Newell's, but then went nine matches without scoring, with a notable drop in individual and collective performance that saw him start from the bench. Nevertheless, he scored a goal against Racing and closed the Apertura with two assists in the last three matches: one against Lanús and another against Central Córdoba, in Pedro Troglio's triumphant debut as Banfield's current coach. He only entered in six opportunities, playing 85 minutes in total, and was not part of the first matchday of the 2026 Apertura, in which Banfield drew with Huracán. The winger's career, who can play on both flanks or even as a second striker, began at Peñarol, the club that formed him but did not give him the chance to debut. Additionally, he scored a goal against Villa Mitre in the Copa Argentina. With the start of the Clausura, Alaníz lost his place in the starting lineup and began to watch the “Taladro” from the bench.
