The President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, expressed his pride in the high level of fulfillment of his campaign promises as he concludes his five-year term. The 51-year-old head of state, belonging to the National Party, emphasized that during his administration, power was never used in an illegitimate or abusive manner.
In statements prior to the end of his term, Lacalle Pou highlighted the importance of having kept his word during the electoral campaign. During the inauguration of an electric section in a rural area of the department of Treinta y Tres, the president referred to an article in the local newspaper El País that reviewed 140 key measures of his government, concluding that an 'enormous fulfillment' has been achieved.
Lacalle Pou stressed that fulfilling commitments was essential for him, as he had to respond to the expectations of those who placed their trust in his administration. Additionally, he highlighted that he never used excuses like the pandemic or drought to justify any potential shortcomings.
The Uruguayan president concludes his term after his successor candidate, Álvaro Delgado, lost in the runoff election in November to Yamandú Orsi of the Broad Front, who will take office on March 1.
