De Arrascaeta shares Bielsa's warning

The midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta, a prominent figure of the Uruguayan National Team, shared a funny anecdote about a conversation he had with coach Marcelo Bielsa. The latter referred to Juan Román Riquelme, recalling an episode in which he decided not to call the Argentine to the 2002 World Cup in South Korea-Japan, despite being considered one of the best players in the world in his position at that time.

De Arrascaeta revealed in an interview that Bielsa warned him by saying: "Look, Riquelme didn't play with me." To this, the Uruguayan midfielder jokingly responded, acknowledging Riquelme's importance at that time.

Coach Bielsa has always been characterized by his intense and demanding playing philosophy, focused on constant pressure and speed. De Arrascaeta admitted that his natural style does not completely fit into that dynamic, but he is working to adapt to the requirements of the Argentine coach, receiving constant feedback through videos to improve his performance on the field.

De Arrascaeta mentioned that he is striving to add more intensity and speed to his game, even though they are not his main characteristics, in order to meet the coach's demands. The Uruguayan National Team will face Argentina on Friday, March 21, at the Centenario Stadium.
