Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba concluded its preseason in Uruguay successfully despite an unpleasant incident involving some of its fans. During a friendly match against Defensor Sporting at the Luis Franzini stadium, a group of 'La Gloria' supporters stormed the field and stole the uniforms of the substitute players while the penalty shootout was taking place.
The players of the Córdoba team tried to stop the individuals but could not prevent them from taking the jerseys, shorts, and socks of the footballers. The institution issued a statement strongly condemning this violent action, which does not represent the values of the entity. Additionally, it was announced that the right of admission will be applied to those responsible once the footage of the incident has been thoroughly reviewed.
"Instituto will not tolerate situations of this kind under any circumstances. Good behavior is a mandatory premise for members to enjoy the stadium facilities without negative consequences for the institution. Together we are stronger," states the communication.
Despite this unfortunate episode, the team won 5-4 in the penalty shootout after drawing 1-1 in regulation time. Television cameras captured the incident live, showing how the fans escaped with the stolen uniforms while some players were left semi-nude on the field. The club's management is committed to clarifying the incident and taking appropriate measures to preserve the integrity and good name of the institution.
