Argentine tennis player Federico Coria, ranked 78th, confirmed his participation in the Uruguay Open, a Challenger 100 tournament that will take place from November 11 to 17 at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club in Uruguay. In this competition, Coria will partner in doubles with former Uruguayan footballer Diego Forlán.

In an interview with Infobae, Federico Coria revealed that the idea came about casually: "The truth is it started a bit as a joke and ended up becoming a reality. It occurred to me when I saw that Diego was competing and I was quite excited with the vlog." Coria, who has ventured into the world of YouTube since September of this year, expressed his interest in participating in the tournament and playing in partnership with Diego Forlán.

Diego Forlán, known for his successful football career and his time with the Uruguayan national team, has been practicing tennis since he was young. In 2023, he intensified his training and competed in ITF tournaments in various categories. Recently, he reached the final at the MT400 in Montevideo and became champion in the doubles category of the MT1000 in Lima, alongside his compatriot Alberto Brause, a former professional player.

The Uruguay Open tournament is recognized for having featured prominent tennis players throughout its 19 editions, including David Nalbandian, Guillermo Coria, David Ferrer, Juan Martín Del Potro, and Fernando González. The inclusion of Diego Forlán in this edition has generated high expectations in the tennis world, sparking curiosity about his performance in the sport.

Meanwhile, Federico Coria shared his goals for the end of the season, mentioning his desire to finish within the top 80 positions in the ATP rankings. After a good start to the year on the South American tour, Coria emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in his game to achieve a noteworthy position in the world rankings.

The presence of a mutual friend, Nacho Carou, facilitated the contact between both athletes and paved the way for Federico Coria and Diego Forlán to form a team in the Uruguay Open, thus uniting tennis and football in an event that promises excitement and high-level competition.
