Uruguay is advancing its influenza vaccination campaign due to the spread of the A H3N2 virus, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) has announced. The director of Health at the MSP, Fernanda Nozar, confirmed that the campaign, which usually begins in April, will start a month earlier, in March. "We are going to advance the flu vaccination campaign in our country," the official stated in an interview with journalists. Emphasis will be placed on child vaccination, as this group has the highest prevalence of cases and is one of the main vectors of transmission. The H3N2 variant is expected to reach the country during the summer due to the typical tourist flow of the season. According to official data, between April and September of this year, 511,000 free doses were administered to a population of approximately 3.5 million people.
