The presidential candidate of Uruguay, Andrés Ojeda, was preparing to vote in the elections that took place in Carrasco. At 40 years old, Ojeda is a representative of the Colorado Party and announced his candidacy in November 2023, becoming the only candidate after the internal elections in June.
Ojeda has stood out for his training and experience in criminal law, as well as his participation as a councilman in the Departmental Board of Montevideo from 2010 to 2015. A graduate of the University of the Republic and with a master's from Austral University of Buenos Aires, the candidate has distinguished himself as an "outsider" in Uruguayan politics.
Before entering to vote, Ojeda mentioned that the gym is a place where willpower and discipline are required more than talent. Additionally, he shared that his family is fundamental in his life and revealed some personal preferences, like his zodiac sign (Capricorn) and his current favorite movie, '300' directed by Zack Snyder.
During his career, Ojeda also worked as a columnist in various media and defended former guerrilla member Héctor Amodio Pérez. He joined the Ciudadanos party in 2019 and was a security reference during the elections of that year. Despite playing sports like rugby and soccer, he acknowledges that he does not excel in either of them and defines himself as someone who seeks to make a difference in Uruguayan politics.
